About Us

Foundation for Early Learning is a public foundation that supports the learning of children, birth through age five.sleeping_baby

With generous support from our donors, the Foundation provides grants, technical assistance, and sponsorships to partner organizations and community groups working in every county in Washington State.

Research shows that one out of every two children entering kindergarten is not prepared for school. Our goal is to change this preparation gap and to ensure that every child is ready socially, emotionally and intellectually to succeed in school, and in life.

We believe this takes work on two levels.

To start, we support parents as their children's first teachers by providing grants, free publications and online services.

The Foundation also works with partners across Washington State to support high-quality early learning, childcare and preschool. Together this makes real impact in Washington.

Since the Foundation was established in 2000, we have awarded over $6.5 million in grants to community groups, built a network of 28 community coalitions and connected thousands of parents and caregivers with local early learning resources.
